New design – New composition – New retail size
New design
“Rinsing R” is offered in a new bottle design made of soft PE for good and precise dosing. The new appearance is modern and clear in its statement. As part of the product evolution, the packaging is being switched from PET to cardboard.
Application
“Rinsing R” is a sterile isotonic solution for rinsing, storing and disinfecting hard gas-permeable contact lenses. The optimised viscosity improves wearing comfort when inserting the contact lens.
Composition
“Rinsing R” contains water-soluble polymers. As a carrier substance, these promote the removal of impurities on the contact lens surface and, thanks to their viscous character, improve wearing comfort.
The interaction of these components also improves significantly the wetting of the more-or-less hydrophobic surfaces of hard contact lenses.
Polyhexanide, synergistically supported by the chelating agent sodium edetate, achieves Moreover, an optimised fungicidal and bactericidal effect.
Retail sizes
250 ml “Rinsing R” and 3 x 250 ml “Rinsing R”
100 ml “Rinsing R” Now available

New design
"Cleaning C" is offered in a new bottle design made of soft PE. The product is available in a 30ml bottle. the new appearance is modern and clear in its statement. As part of the product evolution, the packaging is being switched from PET to cardboard.
Application
“Cleaning C” is a sterile solution for the daily cleaning of rigid contact lenses.
Composition
As a cleansing component, "Cleaning C“ contains a highly mild surfactant free of irritation. Furthermore, "Cleaning C“ causes a significant better moistening of the hydrophobic surface of the contact lenses.
- A composition of anionic, amphoteric and non-ionic surfactants in a sterile isotonic solution

New design
“simply one” is offered in a new bottle design made of soft PE. This allows good and precise dosing. The new appearance is modern and clear in its statement. As part of the product evolution, PET packaging is being changed to cardboard.
Usage
“simply one” is a sterile isotonic solution for the care of contact lenses, primarily cleaning, disinfecting, storing and rinsing soft hydrophilic monthly lenses. “simply one” increases the wettability of the relevant surfaces (cornea and lens surface) due to the water-binding properties of dexpanthenol.
Composition
With dexpanthenol and surface-active polymers. The properties of dexpanthenol are: water-binding, cell-friendly, prevention of “dry eye”.
The new buffer system (phosphate buffer) means the electrolytes calcium, potassium and magnesium can be dispensed with.
Polyhexanide, synergistically supported by the chelating agent sodium edetate, achieves an optimised fungicidal and bactericidal effect.
Retail sizes
360 ml “simply one” and 2 x 360 ml “simply one”
100 ml “simply one” (currently not available, but still available in the previous design as 50 ml and 250 ml)
as well as
250 ml “simply one” and 3 x 250 ml “simply one”
A lot is changing – our values stay the same.
Contopharma stands for expertise, quality and responsiveness to market needs. Read on
to find out why we are relocating some of our production to the EU after 37 years – and how
this challenge is driving our innovation efforts and creating new visual accents.
The background
Due to the discontinuation of negotiations on the Framework Agreement between Switzerland and the EU, there is no new Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) on the mutual recognition of conformity assessments. A renewal of the MRA would have been urgent and important for the Medical Device Regulation (MDR). It means that Swiss manufacturers who want to market their products in the EU are now treated as manufacturers from a “third country” (a country that is not a member of the EU). As a result, they are faced with extensive new obligations. Switzerland no longer has access to EUDAMED, and Swiss manufacturers have to meet very complex requirements in order to continue exporting to the EU. This decision has prompted our current solutions manufacturer to discontinue its production of medical devices. As a consequence,
Contopharma needs new manufacturers to continue operating in Europe. We have found
such manufacturers in the EU. As a Swiss company, it is easier to import medical devices to
Switzerland than to export them!
We have received an import licence from Swissmedic and are therefore able to act as a Swiss representative for European companies. We proactively meet the requirements of the European MDR. The transition period for the new MDR ends in 2024. The fo rmal changeover for us took place at the end of 2021. We will be implementing the product changeover with our own warehousing in mid-2022.
How we are implementing the changes
The new situation offers us the opportunity to incorporate the latest scientific findings into
the formulations we have developed. Where necessary and required, they are already being
adapted to the MDR guidelines applicable from 2024 and registered accordingly. We expect
a minimal reduction in the range.
What is not changing
Our tried-and-tested contact lens care products and comfort solutions, exclusive retail
products and dietary supplements, and the Contaview, c-lens and ZEISS contact lens lines.
What is new
Details of the changes can be accessed via the “red news button”. Our products are being
redesigned with a modern, contemporary look while keeping the familiar colour compositions. As part of a rolling process, we are also switching from PET to environmentally friendly cardboard for the outer packaging.
What you need to know
We will continue to uphold our Swiss values – quality, safety, reliability and availability. That
is why we have carefully evaluated numerous manufacturers in the EU and singled out those that meet all our strict criteria.
